Rose City--
Thank you for the comment. I will add your blog to my blogroll and look forward to keeping up with your reading. I'm afraid I've lost some steam recently....believe it or not, I'm having trouble finding a copy of 1984...which I wanted to read shortly after Brave New World.

I found your blog when looking for bloggers reading the books on the Modern Library list. This list inspired me to start my Rose City Reader blog, so I like finding book bloggers with similar interests.

Good luck with the list! There are 121 books on it, by the way, if you count all the trilogies, quartets, and the 12-volume Dance to the Music of Time, which you should -- it was my favorite.

I finished all the books in 2007 (see my main Modern Library post for a wrap up and links to reviews, if you are interested). Finnigans Wake almost did me in.

Hey Sam!
I'm surprised at the reaction to this post...people love their books! I also have realized just how huge a task this will be. Let's say I'm able to read 10 a year (even THIS is a liberal estimate considering my "read for fun" habits over the past decade)....

The content analysis will have to wait! :)

Great post, Rob. Certainly some interesting choices here. Mark Twain makes the nonfiction list but not the fiction list.

Some great reads on both, and I have read far too few of either. The readers' list would be interesting to compare with sales. Also a content analysis of the relative political slants of both lists.
